“Give Thanks” Faux Bois Card

Step 1:

Lay yellow 4.25 x 5.5 card stock on paper and paint generously with Brown paint. While wet use Faux Bois (wood grain) tool to create wood texture on cardstock and let dry. Use scallop-cutting tool to trim edges.

Step 2:

Cut cream cardstock slightly longer and wider than wood grain card and scallop the edges. Fold card in half. I don’t own a bone folder so I just use whatever is handy like this ballpoint pen. Cut yellow and orange cardstock to create scallops on edges of strips.

Step 3:

Adhere pieces together with roll on adhesive.

Step 4:

Use your electric cutter (I use an eCrafter) to cut two leaf shapes out of the same orange and yellow card stock. With a ballpoint pen, draw the leaf veins. Using distressing ink, gently sponge on ink to distress and texturize leaves. Add sticky squares to back of leaves and adhere to front of card. Slightly overlap leaves and orange and yellow stripes.

Step 5:

Use alphabet typewriter stamps to write the words “give thanks” on the yellow scalloped strip. Finally dab the distressing ink along the edges of the card to age. And you’re finished.

 Supplies:

• Cream, Yellow, Light orange and dark orange card stock
• Brown acrylic paint with paint brush
• Distressing Ink with dabber
• Roll-on adhesive
• Faux Bois Tool
• Adhesive squares
• Scallop cutting tool with ruler
